Biography

Satoshi Ishii is a Professor in the Department of Soil, Water, and Climate, as well as the BioTechnology Institute at the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities. His research aims to address environmental challenges by applying microbiology and biotechnology techniques. He has developed and implemented high-throughput gene detection tools to identify and quantify pathogens, antibiotic resistance genes, and other target genes or organisms in soil and water samples. His research has informed strategies to protect public health and mitigate pathogen pollution in aquatic environments. Dr. Ishii applies this technology to the study of aquatic invasive species (AIS).
