Jake is a postdoctoral associate in the Department of Fisheries, Wildlife, and Conservation Biology. His research focuses on quantifying connections between freshwater biological communities, ecosystem processes and services, and natural resources management. For example, destroying invasive aquatic plants can limit their spread and the harm they may cause while promoting lake recreation and access. However, this invasive aquatic plant management can be harmful to native aquatic plants, which provide critical fish habitat. Further, the role of invasive plants as fish habitat is not well understood. Jake is currently investigating interactions between aquatic plants, fishes, and their management at multiple scales in the Upper Midwest to more holistically manage these two communities.
